On the 29th of October different great speakers will talk about the place of archaeology in society. Creating public support for archaeology is a major challenge in today’s ‘participatory society’. How can we transform archaeological interest into a broader communal interest in which other groups have a voice too?

This symposium is organised by Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Provincie Groningen and EARTH Integrated Archaeology and aims to highlight strategies already being implemented and methods of identifying shared interests. The founding partners have got some great speakers lined up for you. Bote Wilpstra, Daan Raemaekers, David Jennings, Anders Högberg, Monique van den Dries, Bart Ramakers, Meindert Schollema and Henny Groenendijk are delighted to learn you more about the subject. Sandra Rottenberg will moderate the discussions. The symposium is aimed at professional archaeologists at universities, in the civil service and in business enterprises, as well as local and regional policymakers.
